Nerja Villas Capistrano Apartments and Villas review by taniag

We stayed here for 10 days in October 2011, and I have to say, we couldn't have done any better if we tried. The apartment looked out over the main road, with a large balcony and loungers to sit at, we could look down to the town of Nerja, and the sea beyond. With a 30 second walk to the well stocked supermarket downstairs, we'd normally grab a few rolls for our breakfast, and sit outside enjoying the morning air. If the heat was too much, we'd retire to the large air conditioned sitting room or even downstairs to one of the pools. Even in October the water temperature was a pleasant 25c, and a quick dip would cool us off. We'd also enjoy a pleasant drink and chat at the pool bar, and snacks like toasties or burgers were available for a reasonable price. If we wanted more, we'd move next door to the family run restaurant that would be open from early until midnight. The two brothers that serve you are very friendly when you get chatting to them, and you have to try the steak! If you wanted to go to town the guys in the office would be more than happy to order you a taxi, but they also have maps showing you the best places to shop, eat or anything else you want to do. If you wanted to stay local in the evening, you can do worse than to visit the Cave bar, in the basement of the main complex. A very friendly bar, the atmosphere is very party like, and they can't do enough for you. Watch your head though, parts of the ceiling are very low.
On the negative side, I would say that we had a few issues with the electric. There must have been a bad earth somewhere in the apartment because sometimes we'd get a slight tingle from metal objects plugged in, like the hob or our laptop. The fridge had an 'ice maker' compartment, which would take forever to make ice so we'd just buy it from the shop instead. It was also frosting up all the time. Another down point was the Spanish siesta system, meaning that the office was closed between 2 and 4:30pm. We arrived just after 2, and the office was just closing, so we got a key etc. but we wouldn't have been impressed if we'd have had to sit for 2.5 hours with everything closed. The restaurant and pool bar are open however so you can get a drink whilst you wait.
All in all, an amazing place. Watch out for the relaxed little birds who come and say hi on the balconies. They're very tame, and sum up how friendly everybody is. I'd recommend them to anyone staying on the Costa Del Sol.
